Jim McGuinness & JJ Delaney announced as Sky Sports' new GAA pundits

The former Donegal boss was announced today.

FORMER ALL-IRELAND winning Donegal boss Jim McGuinness and Kilkenny legend JJ Delaney have been confirmed as Sky Sports new pundits for this year’s championship.

McGuinness, who won three Ulster titles as well as a Sam Maguire during his four years in charge of Donegal, is currently working with Celtic football club since walking away from the Donegal job and was most recently invited by Saracens rugby team to give a motivational talk ahead of their Champions Cup semi-final with Clermont.

Speaking at his announcement today, McGuinness said:

“I’ve had the great honour of being involved in inter-county football both as a player and a manager over a long number of years and I’m looking forward to sharing some of my experiences and insights with the Sky Sports viewers.”

Delaney, who only retired from inter-county hurling in December, is a winner of eight All-Ireland and 11 Leinster titles. The 33-year old is a six time Allstar and was named Hurler of the Year in 2003.

Delaney said of his new career:

“The hurling championship has been a huge part of my life for the last 15 years, having retired from the Kilkenny team, I’m really looking forward to being involved in a different capacity, as part of the Sky Sports team.

“I hope to offer a fresh perspective on the players and the games as they unfold in what promises to be a very competitive Championship.”

As part of the Sky Sports team, McGuinness and Delaney will work alongside the likes of Peter Canavan and Jamesie O’Connor, with Ollie Canning and Senan Connell also providing insight across their 20 live matches.
